JUCING VS SMOOTHIES WITH NOURISHING ESSENTIAL OILS

miksgirl81

Its’ that time of the year to cleanse and strengthen our bodies.  Whether you want to juice or enjoy  a  smoothie, essential oils can be a beneficial part of your ingredients.

I enjoy making fresh juice, the aroma and the taste is a wonderful way to start your day.  My favorite is apple, pear and carrot.  Add a drop of lemon essential oil.  It’s simple and better than anything you can buy and you know exacting what you are consuming.

Freshly pressed juices are ideal for hydration, cleansing, cellular repair and a good way add in nutrients to your diet.  With juicing your body does not have to work as hard to garner the nutrients because your digestive system doesn’t have to break down the fiber.

JUCING VS SMOOTHIES WITH NOURISHING ESSENTIAL OILS

A great spring detox juice:  (Recipe by Jenni Hulburt)

3 stalks kale

2 stalks celery

1 lime

1 apple

1 cucumber

1 drop cilantro essential oil

combine all the ingredients, except the essential oil in a juice.  Juice and add essential oil last to taste.

Smoothies include fiber since you are using the entire fruit and/or vegetable in your blend.  Smoothies can be enjoyed as a meal or a nutritious snack.

Flavoring juices and smoothies with essential oil is not only tasty, but using therapeutic essential oils can be a great addition to your healthy lifestyle.

My favorite smoothie:

1 frozen peeled banana (keeps your smoothie cold and doesn’t water it down)

1/2 cup of fresh or frozen blueberries

1/2 cup of spinach or kale

1/2 cup of ice cubes

cinnamon or lemon therapeutic essential oil

Blend in the blender until smooth. Dip the end of a toothpick in your essential oil and swirl in your smoothie.  This is a great way to get your fruits and vegetables when you are in a time crunch or want a nice nutritious snack on a hot afternoon.

To save time when making your smoothie ingredients; wash and prepare your fruits and vegetable before you store them.  Choose your recipe, cut up your fruits and vegetables  and freeze them in individual sandwich bags or a container of your choice.  You can also prepare any mixture of dry ingredients that you want to add; chia seeds, flax seeds, organic coconut  or protein powder.  By preparing your kits ahead of time, it will ensure that you keep on your healthy path and not grab that sugar laden donut.

Here are some of the common essential oils used in juices and smoothies, along with their benefits:

Cinnamon helps warm the body as well as uplifting your mood, supporting your digestive health and your immunity.

Cilantro provides antioxidants, aids in digestion, soothes the skin and promotes detoxification.

Ginger  aids with indigestion and occasional nausea, it also eases congestion.

Grapefruit Supports weight loss, boosts your metabolism and helps reduce food cravings.

Lemon stimulates cleansing and promotes lymphatic flow, provides respiratory supports and uplifts your mood.

Lime provides antioxidants for healthy immune function; stimulates and uplifts mood.

Peppermint soothes digestive issues, has a cooling sensation for fresh breath and helps open airways.

Wild orange stimulates the lymphatic system, energizes and uplifts the nerves and digestive issue

Winterize your skin with Doterra

dottera facial system

I have always had sensitive skin, especially in the winter.  I have tried many different brands of skin care.  They either left my skin dry and burning or broke my skin out. Toners were out of the questions and moisturizing never really helped my skin.

That was until I found Doterra Verage Skin Collection.  Doterra Verage Skin Care harnesses plant extracts, emoliients and CPTG essential oils that promote youthful looking skin.

I have never been able to use cleansers on my face due to the drying, tightening effects and itching.  I have been using cold cream, which hasn’t done a good job of cleaning the makeup off my skin.  I still had a lot of breakouts.

I started using the Verage system and my skin is clean and glowing.  My skin has never looked this good.  These products are full of natural ingredients that will have you loving your skin again.  Another benefit, I don’t have to use as much foundation.  My foundation now lasts longer.

The Verage cleanser has a nice citrus smell, you only need a small drop to cleanse your skin.  Next is the toner.  I can actually use toner now.  This toner doesn’t leave my skin dry or itchy.  The hydrating serum is divine.  You only have to use just a dap to help all those lines and wrinkles.  The moisturizer is soft and silky and has a beautiful rose smell.

Cooking with certified pure therapeutic oils

Did you know that you can cook with certified pure therapeutic oils.  Not only will you be getting the wonderful smell, but you will be adding a bouquet of taste.

Essential oils for the kitchen are herbs, spices, citrus and flower.

Herbs are great for casseroles, marinades for meats or simply adding to the pot.  When adding to your recipe start with a toothpick dipped in your oil and swish in your recipe.  You can always add more.  CPT oils are concentrated and you want to start slow.

Citrus oils may be used in salad dressings, marinades, sauces and desserts. Why not try making lemon butter for your vegetables or fish.  If you are using a zest, start off with a few drops, add to your liking.

Try a little lavender or ginger in your vanilla ice cream.

Spice up your stew with marjoram, oregano, sage, rosemary, thyme or coriander. Since these oils are considered hot or spicy, use sparingly until you get the flavor you want.

Sponge Cake Recipe

1 cup of self-rising flour.  Do not use baking soda

1 cup sugar

1 cup soft butter

4 eggs

2 tablespoons of warm water

2 drops of orange essential oil.

Cream the butter and sugar.  Add the eggs one at a time and beat well until mixture is still and uniform.  Add water and orange oil.  Fold into the flour with a spoon. Place mixture into 2 buttered and floured pans.  Bake at the center of the oven at 350 for 25 minutes.

Green cleaning

I just received my Doterra Living Magazine.  There are many green recipes to keep those nasty chemicals out of your house. Making green cleaning products not only gets rid of the chemicals that can be harmful to your body, it also gets rid of the synthetic fragrances that can drive your allergies crazy and give you a rash.

Here are some of the recipes from the magazine:

KEEPING YOUR DISHES CLEAN

2 cups of liquid castile soap

20 drops of lime essential oil

8 drops of wild orange essential oil

6 drops of Citrus Bliss blend

Fill a large clean bottle with castile soap; dilute according to directions if you are using concentrate.

Add essential oils.  Shake bottle before each use.

Add 1 to 2 tablespoons to dish water for use.

Dry winter hair

Everyone  knows my hair is my pride and joy. I love when I have my hair done.

When I walk out of the salon, my hair is soft, shiny and stays in style for several days. Then, a few days later when I wash my hair the “magic” is gone. I fight it like crazy to make it behave.

I have tried multiple conditioners, serums, balms, nothing worked – until now.

I purchased Doterra essential oil conditioner. This is the best conditioner. Not only does it work, but it smell delicious.

This conditioner has many essential oils to smooth those frizzies and give you healthly shiny hair.

Holidays got you frazzled

We all love the holidays, but it can get hectic and stressful standing in line and shopping to find the perfect gift.

To help quell those feelings of stress, diffuse some Doterra Lavender  or Serenity oil into the air.  Try taking a warm bath and add the oils to your bathwater before jumping in for a soak.

Dilute with some coconut or any carrier oil and massage on your temples, arms, legs and chest.

Breathe in the wonderfully calming scent and relax with a hot cup of tea or cocoa.

If you are pregnant or nursing, always consult with your physician before using essential oils.
